At NoviaHealth, we zero in on understanding where and how each individual strain of beneficial bacteria becomes established, colonizes, and competes with resident microbes in the gut environment. Beyond that, we consider the entire metabolic ecosystem as well as the multiple benefits of the microbiome to physiology. This includes knowledge of the specific traits and functions necessary for probiotics to perform and support health, plus new discoveries of existing strains and new strains of health-supporting bacteria. Our discovery model considers platforms, ecologically-advanced probiotic strains and the prebiotics that they thrive on in a system we describe as “synergistic synbiotics™.”
The NoviaHealth Standards for Developing/Manufacturing Superior Microbiome-Supporting Ingredient Systems
Whether developing new probiotic ingredients and formulations in-house, or developing/reformulating ingredients for clients, or co-manufacturing existing formulations to client specifications, the NoviaHealth standard promises to:
- Deliver optimum performance. This means strains must be native to, or be able to safely and effectively establish in the gut microbiome. We use proprietary in vivo selection or in vitro enrichment platforms to identify and characterize ecologically-fit and host-adapted “native” strains.
- Provide competitively superior strains and synergistic ingredients and systems.
NoviaHealth’s own ecologically-advanced probiotic strains and specific partner prebiotics—alone or in combination—are rigorously tested to ensure they are able to out-compete other strains in the gut environment. - Be ecologically advanced ingredients and positively reshape the host microbiome. Before they can be approved for manufacture, all NoviaHealth ingredients—either as singular advanced probiotic strains or in combination with a complementary selected prebiotic—must demonstrate they positively modulate the gut microbiome. Pairing an ecologically advanced probiotic with a target partner prebiotic must provide a proven synergistic result.
- Be safe, regulatory compliant, and suitable for formulation into commercial products.
